About $2.4 million weddings will take place in the United States alone this year. That’s a lot of bling getting sold.
Much of it gets moved this month, according to Wedding News Wire, which says February is the most popular month for engagements. Thanks to Valentine’s Day, guys drop to their knees to willfully surrender more than at any other time in the year.
After the engagement, comes the selection of the wedding ring and the other details. As one professional in the industry points out, however, the months between the engagement and the ceremony are special times that should be remembered. Wedding and portrait photographer Julia Pelish advocates for the engagement portrait shoot to get couples and photographers in a groove.
“The engagement portrait isn’t an upsell, nor is it a rehearsal. It’s a way for brides and grooms to celebrate their momentous occasion, to get the word out about their nuptials, to preserve early memories of their relationship, and to get the most out of their professional photographer. For those reasons, the wedding packages I most often recommend to brides and grooms include engagement portraits. It allows us to get to know each other. I’ll be able to see what poses and angles are best, allowing me to capture intimate moments even on a busy day,” she says.
The engagement phase is filled with all kinds of activities. But the most important is finding the right ring and the perfect inscription to go with it.
